About HHRL

Curiosity builds the first prototype. Engineering makes it work.

HHRL turns difficult ideas into working technology — and finds a way forward when existing technology gets stuck.

HHRL is an independent engineering company built around technical problem-solving. Our work spans electronics, embedded systems, industrial communications, software platforms, connected devices, artificial intelligence and experimental engineering. Systems engineering connects these disciplines: we understand the purpose, constraints and interfaces before judging how well the complete solution works.

We are comfortable at both ends: the rough concept that needs a first working demonstration, and the existing system that still holds value but has stopped moving.

Philosophy

The best way to solve a difficult problem is to understand the whole system, challenge conventional assumptions, and build something that proves the solution works — against clear requirements, not just in isolation.

The facility · Randburg

450 m² where ideas become physical.

Our Randburg workshop puts electronics assembly, machining and fabrication under one roof. Instead of waiting weeks on outside suppliers, we move from schematic and CAD to boards, enclosures and mechanical parts in days — then test, adjust and build again.

How we work

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand the problem, constraints, existing systems and desired outcome.

  2. 02

    Explore

Identify possible approaches and test the riskiest assumptions first.

  3. 03

    Prototype

Build the smallest useful working solution to establish feasibility.

  4. 04

    Integrate

Connect hardware, firmware, software, data and communications as required.

  5. 05

    Validate

Test actual behaviour, find failure modes, verify against requirements.

  6. 06

    Refine

Improve reliability, usability, performance, documentation and maintainability.

  7. 07

    Deliver

A practical outcome with the agreed documentation and handover.

Tell us what you are trying to build, what is not working, or what you want to make possible. You do not need a complete specification. We can start by understanding the problem.
